Up to a quarter of the UK’s carbon emissions comes from energy used in homes and around the same amount is from our industry and businesses. The Green Deal which is due to start in October 2012 aims to reduce the amount of energy used by homes or businesses by using home improvements with no up-front cost to the bill payer.
The savings on energy bills are then used to help pay for the installation costs over a period of time. By doing this the energy savings of your household will increase and you will gain home improvements that will pay for themselves .
The Green Deal is not personal as the cost of the home improvements stays with the household meaning if you move house at a later date the new inhabitant continues with the Green Deal until it is paid off.
Anybody qualifies for the green deal if the predicted savings on energy from the home improvements is equal to or exceeds the cost of the installation.
